Grand Teton National Park

What a busy summer it’s been!  We definitely have fun wedding stuff to show you as we chew through them, but for now you’ll have to settle for this panoramic view from the lovely Jackson Lake Lodge in Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming.  Needless to say, it’s a gorgeous place.  We were down there for our family reunion and had a great time.  The weather was beautiful and all I could think of was how great it would be to shoot a wedding out here.  Any takers?

Genevieve & Jeremy

This is Jeremy and Genevieve and their beautiful dog Zahara at Grotto Falls just south of Bozeman. We were all so glad we could make it up there before the snow started flying. What a gorgeous place and what a fun little family!

Climbing with Bob & Kristen | City of Rocks, Idaho

Here are a few sweet captures from our day with Bob & Kristen.  We climbed Theatre of Shadows – a sweet and easy 5.6/7 four pitch slab fest on Jackson’s Thumb next to Steinfell’s dome in City of Rocks National Reserve near Almo, Idaho.  City of Rocks is a climbing mecca, with thousands of bolted and traditional routes on hundreds of one- to three hundred foot boulders scattered across a sweeping valley.  There are routes here for everyone from beginner to advanced.  The climbing is incredibly varied, with short, sporty, bolted crimp-fests, and long & easy multipitch cruisers.  Awesome place.  Anyways, here’s a taste of the City.

Idaho Star Trails

Here’s a fun star trail capture from my inlaws’ backyard from over the weekend.  The technique is so different than a lot of what we shoot.  Instead of the rapid succession don’t-miss-a-moment energy of a wedding, making one picture can take hours.  It kind of forces you to slow down and think; like about how crazy it is that we are on this little spinning ball in space.  :-)

Temple Photo Contest – Help!

I imagine many of you have seen this picture before.  Regardless of one’s religious inclinations, anyone who’s spent time strolling along the Snake River Greenbelt in Idaho Falls, Idaho can attest to what a stellar little location it is.

I’ve entered it in a little contest, so if you like it, please help me out by swinging over to latterdailyart and posting a comment on the photo.  Comments are essentially votes.

Of course you can also help me out by buying a print or canvas gallery wrap…

Tree Timelapse

What a gorgeous world we live in. It’s funny the kind of beauty you can find right at your feet or looking out your window, yet how often we just overlook it. Now I’m still fairly new at the SLR timelapse game, but here’s my offering for today.  It was quite windy and the clouds were just racing by.  I had a lot of homework so I just let the camera roll looking out the window.  Hope you like it.

Peet’s Hill

I’ve spent a lot of time on Peet’s Hill lately in Bozeman.  It’s an interesting little escarpment of earth right in the middle of town that really serves as an intra-urban organic refuge. Every dog in Bozeman spends time with its owner here. It’s a cool spot, but it’s at night that it really comes alive. Here’s a few from a recent evening there I thought ya’ll might enjoy.

Southeast Idaho Lightning!

I don’t know if I’m cursed or what, but I hardly ever see lightning these days. It simply evades me. Finally a little lightning storm grazed the north edge of town when we visited my wife’s parents, but this is the best we could do. At least it’s something. Bring on the weather!
